Bubbly funk chipboard project.......

My last project for Bubblyfunk *sob* was to create with this awesome Tando chipboard wall hanging. I loved it - I seriously knew I wanted it in my home when I saw it all grey and undressed in Caroline's fabby shop.
I decorated it in Cosmo and other matching pretties.
The tree engraved chipboard circle at the bottom of the hanging was one of my favourite things Caroline sent me to work with.
I love the engraved chipboard - I hadn't seen it before - but its really beautiful.
I painted the chipboard letters and tree circle in water colour paints (try it if you never have!! It works amazingly well - really even colour coverage without getting puffy chipboard edges!)

If you want to see more cool stuff that Caroline's amazing DT make log on HERE
And if you want the chipboard shapes I have made my project with log on HERE

Kate Hadfield...

Hello! Happy Saturday. I am in a great mood today - I have made a decision about where I scrap, and its one I am happy about. In my bedroom (which I am very lucky to say is huge, as we live in half a house - so our bedroom is what would usually be a large living room) I have a gorgeous big bay window.. where sits my dressing table. Now, since living here, I haven't sat at it to do make up etc - as I prefer to do that in the hall or bathroom, so instead of it being wasted space, I emptied the draws of collated crap and threw it all out and stacked my scrap stuff in! yay! So I now have a beautiful scrapping area again (and not just the floor!)
Once I have finally sorted I will post a picture :)
Ok - onto some visual stuff!
Kate Hadfield (aka awesome lady) designed this amazing winter games doodle pack
which is perfect for your wintery themed photos - I scrapped my sisters friends ski photos (with her permission of course!)

And if winter games aren't your thing - how about Movie night?
Man I SERIOUSLY love this kit - its perfect for big nights out OR big nights in - perfect!
Movie night is a collab kit full of fantastic stuff..
find it HERE

Its funny how digi scrapping is becoming so huge - I remember when I was like "wow.. digi scrapping really?!" now, of course, I am addicted!

Friday Freebie.

Where do the weeks go? It's the last week of Feb! How did that happen?
Anyway - It's time for a new Friday Freebie.
Meet SAM
Sam is 8 and 3/4.
He likes painting, especially painting with mud.
He has a collection of worms and beetles in jars behind his dad's shed in the garden (don't tell his mum!) And he feeds them vegetables from his dinner plate that he puts in his pocket when his mum isn't looking... they don't seem to like them much either.
The file comes with:

One colour - mud png.
One colour - Paint png
One colour mud - jpg
one black and white png.
One outline - jpg

And here is what we have done with him so far!!
*Me* I created a digi page using Finlay's recent canvas masterpiece *ahem* that he painted using merely his fingers.
I was impressed. I can see you are too...
anyway..
I used digi things bought from the lillypad.. cool place...
and created my own painty splodges and paint title...

Leann made this stunning card - I love her paper choice for this.. they remind me of snuggle soft flannel shirts and cuddles for some reason! Its sooo lovely isn't it!! Check out Leann's blog for more delights - her work is pretty pretty!
And Caroline embraced all colour and funk with this card - I LOVE it! I love bold and bright and think she has put together some wicked paper choices here.
It really is "all boy" cool stuff huh!
Check out Caroline's blog for more divine works!
xx
Oh - and the download link I here you all ask..

digi

Whenever I write the word Digi.. I am overwhelmed with the urge to write didgeridoo...
which I have done, so thank goodness thats out of my system!
*********
Talking of didgeridoos... I mean Digi pages.. Shimelle has released some gorgeous ornate frames at 2 peas..
HERE
I put together two pages for her with them - I changed the colour of one and used it as a border to my photo (below)
I love how it looks - combined with her fab digital lists, It's not my normal style - but I love stepping outside my normal zone with digi... it allows for you to trial and error without fear, and perhaps finding a style you love!
And this one features the frame round the photo - *heart*
If you haven't tried digi scrapping before - Shimelle includes them as a printable PDF so you can hybrid scrap with them - and then, if you feel adventurous one day - try digi scrapping!

scrapping!

Since moving all my scrap stuff into my bedroom (much to my husbands horror) I am finding that I am much more likely to scrap in the quiet times of the day (aka.. Finlay's afternoon nap)
I love having everything out (again, much to Ben's actual horror) I am keeping it tidy - but "there" which means I am able to pop in, place some paper... walk away and think about it, pop back... cut some more paper etc etc etc and the day goes on...
Last night I made this from a photo I took (THE SAME DAY!!) Unheard of for me!
I love wood grain paper - especially when teamed with colour to boost it.
Finlay took a football to the park, and learned how to kick it without falling over.
I hope he doesn't become a soccer kid... whenever I drive past parents on the side lines of the local park on a Sunday mornings I always think "brrr rather you than me!!" Especially when its raining! Yuck! Mud! Cold! Wet! YUCK!
Anyway... I still scrapped it, minus my horror at the prospect of what it could mean!
And this one is called "Big Ketchup"
"Big ketchup" is what Finlay has recently taken to calling slices of Tomato.
(If it gets him to eat it, who am I to complain??)
I love the concept of his world... and how he see's things, describes things and says things...
innocence and make believe is something I think is fast becoming rare amongst children these days.. I hope he can hold onto his for some time yet!
That cute tomato is from the Cosmo garden papers (I cant remember the name lol!)
Cute!

I sound weird...
Its grainy...
Its a bit dark...
but enjoy LOL
(I recommend making it large as, three collum blogger is limiting!)
Also - I need to add - after the video stops - it shows related videos... none of these are mine, nore are they related in anyway LOL!

Friday Freebie! - Digi Freebie

Morning all! It's Friday! Freebie day. And I have got a freebie for you today that will suit any knitters amongst you....
But before that - Look what landed in my inbox this week... Kim made a gorgeous bracelet using her little musing in one of the keepsake sections.
I just think this is adorable - and what a cute concept.
Thank you Kim for letting me share your creation!
xxx

Oh and that's it for today - thanks for stopping by...

Onto the freebie!
Meet Rach. She is a funky knitter - with a vast collection of wool that she could build a fort from. She likes lay'ins and watching American soaps on tv, toast, and bubble baths.
Check out what the CT did with her.........
Kellie used the colour version to create this beautiful card - I love those flowers.... look at the detail of that bow in her hair! CUTE! that pearl headed pin is fab too hun (Actually.. email me where you got that from LOL!)
And Leann used the outline version of Rach to create this gorgeous gate fold card... seriously stunning.. I love how she has coloured her... look at those rosy cheeks!! *love*
Fabulous colour scheme too...
I always swoon at what the CT create - and it always makes me so proud to be able to share them with you. Not only that - but they are lovely girlies - you should pop by their blogs and see all the amazing stuff they do!!

Thursday...

Ever had one of those days when you think "meh!!"
I am having one of those days today.. quite frankly, I think it's because I missed Glee on Monday. I was out and it failed to record *weep*

not even the warm snuggles of a cat on my lap can cheer me up!

There was one cute CUTE part of my day...
Finlay was sitting on the computer desk in front of me, facing me, and we were singing. I had one of those overwhelming love-rushes, and I think either my eyes welled up or I looked like I would cry, as Finlay stopped singing and the conversation went like this.....

Finlay "Mummy - why are you crying? Don't cry"
Me: I'm not sad - I am happy, these are happy tears... they are here because I love you so much, and it makes my heart hurt a bit"
Finlay *Tilts his head to one side, looks at my heart and says* "ahhh.. don't worry, I kiss it better" *leans forward and kisses my chest. "There there, all better!"
Me *melted into a pool of love*

In order to celebrate that moment - I scrapped a Digi page for Shimelle. It features her awesome digi list (in green)
And one more, using the cute penned words... all available from 2peas!

Yesterday, I "little musing'd" Lola... though, it turned out more real life than Little Musings!
I have no idea what I will do with it!
xx

Meow.. date night, .and other noises.....

So, last night I took Ben out for a birthday meal and cinema trip.. it was our first official "date night" since we've had Finlay!
*eep*
We went to see "Valentines day"
I loved it - but then I am a sucker for those cute films that focus on LOADS of lives (love actually - the holiday - etc etc) And this one did not disappoint!
There was one bit of the film that made my eyes water with emotion, (for those who have seen it, it was when the character played by Julia Roberts went home......bless!!)
But then I am a right old sucker for welling up in films.
I laughed a LOT too = which was needed and lovely!
I think "date night" will be done again, more often - as it was very very good for us - sometimes its important to not be "mum and dad" for a few hours, and remember what it was like to hold hands, and not a pram handle... and to eat dinner without cutting it up and wiping faces with wet wipes, and to feel like the most important person in that moment is the person you have perhaps forgotten how to love properly... does that make sense?
Anyway - enough of that!
Craft!
Here is a sneak peek of the fourth project for Bubblyfunk I have made...
check out that chipboard tree - STUNNING - I love it! It is engraved onto the circle.. quite deeply too - I painted it brown with a mini brush...
I did a little musings for Leann (Little musings CT) of her two adorables. I love it - its one of my favs...........
This is the colour version - but just so you know - Each little musing can be done in outline too - for you copic marker fans out there!

Utterly random, and not my photo - and I can't remember where I got it from - but look look look at this nursery tree!!!!!! I loves it soooo much, I want one in my lounge! (I have the perfect wall for it too)
Back to something I have done...
"Set it free" is a digital painting. I loved the jar canvas I have given away so much, that I wanted to do something similar for myself.
here it is in a green mount - which I need to change as its "not quite right" but I can't wait to frame it for my hall.
I think I might put a limited run up for sale - email me if you are interested!
And last but not least - Lola.
she has settled in delightfully - a real asset to our household family dynamic. I adore her muchly and hope she is as happy as I want her to be.
(ps: Lucy "crafting in the beach hut"- if you are reading this - yes, that is your canvas in the picture lol - but its on its way to you don't worry LOL)
Look at that adorable little face! *you can see in the top pic of her that her ear is split - some horror did that to her - I will spend my days making her forget it don't worry!*

15 Feb 2010

Well - catching up!

Blimey - that weekend was a bit hectic! fun though.
I have a few bits I didn't blog over the weekend because of the party - so I am doing a catch up post now...
Meet "Lola" She is a rescue cat that now lives with us...
She is a beautiful tortie 6 year old princess who has had a proper rough start to life - and totally deserves adoration for the rest of it...
I am literally only to happy to oblige.
She is still very timid - only been here 24 hours - but has already eaten, licked her paws, sat on lap and had a quick investigation of the kitchen/living room. She mostly likes to sit behind the fridge or sofa - I hope she soon gains enough confidence to be at home here.
*purrr*

In crafty news - I am over the moon happy to be able to display this logo on my blog from now on...
proud to declare that I am one of...
*Dance*

Other crafty news - this is the third project I made for Caroline at bubblyfunk - It is a canvas for Finlay's bedroom using rad tando chipboard from her shop.
As soon as I saw the little street scene I knew I wanted to make a little decorated canvas for his room, as it matches the theme in there perfectly.
I used a set of water colours to paint the chipboard - I was surprised at how well the chipboard took it - it didn't sink in and fade like I first thought it might - it stays on the surface, bright and beautifully - I will definitely be using water colour on chipboard again!
